Moziah “Mo” Bridges was just 9-years-old when he began creating and selling his own bow ties. Now at the tender age of 13 Mo and his business “Mo’s Bows Memphis” is now worth $200,000. Yes, a 13-year-old is making more than most of us see any given year. The young entrepreneur also became the youngest business owner to appear on ABC’s Shark Tank at the age of 11. Today his handmade bow ties can be found in Neiman Marcus and online at www.mosbowsmemphis.com.
Bows-N-Ties began back in 2009 when founder and CEO Hendrik Pohl, inspired by his own dapper father’s German necktie business, set his mind to become the largest online retailer of men’s neck-wear in the world.
After selling all of his furniture to make room for the nearly 10,000 ties that were consuming Hendrik’s small studio apartment, word spread about Bow-N-Ties’ unique designs, quality construction, and value pricing. His hard work paid off, and Bows-N-Ties moved on to more spacious pastures in San Francisco’s vibrant SOMA district. Hendrik was happy to have his apartment back, and our customers were happy with the 100,000+ necktie options the large warehouse space now affords.
In 2013, the success of Bows-N-Ties was marked by its inclusion as #459 on the list of INC500’s Fastest Growing and Most Innovative Companies in America. Today their collection encompasses thousands of designs in any imaginable fabric, cut, print, and pattern. Their goal is to continue this rapid growth by always improving our quality, innovating new designs, and providing friendly customer service with a flexible return policy.
One of the great things about the Bows-N-Ties site is their resource section with helpful and detailed advice about how to dress for different occasions.
Aid for Africa – Pocket Squares for a Good Cause
Each year Bows-N-Ties get involved with a charitable cause. Last year they created a collection of dog themed neckties and scarves that raised money for the SPCA, in 2013 they designed a military tie collection supporting our veterans, and for 2015/16 they focused their attention on an African Charity: AidForAfrica.org.
Each of these pocket squares will be available for $10 on the Bows-N-Ties website starting November 17th with the entire $10 being donated to AidForAfrica.org – a non-profit organization that focuses its efforts on sub Saharan Africa. Buying just a single pocket square will help bring books to school children, combat HIV/AIDS, support small businesses for women, bring fresh drinking water to communities, protect wildlife, and more throughout the countries of Sub Saharan Africa. Not only will your purchase do good in the world, but it will literally make you look better. Each pocket square is only available 200x and is guaranteed to be a conversation starter anywhere you go!
