Black Americans for a Better Future (BAFBF) launched its inaugural Speaker’s Series Luncheon in the Murrow Room of the National Press Club, 529 14th Street NW, on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. The special guest for this series was the Honorable Boyd K. Rutherford, the Lieutenant Governor for the State of Maryland.

In addition to the luncheon, there was be a focus group featuring the topic “Blacks and the Republican Party.” This group consists of African-American Republicans, Democrats and Independents. These panelists delved into the issue of what message the African-American community needs to hear from Republicans that will not only get them to listen but to actually consider voting Republican in the 2016 Presidential Election.

“This is a diverse panel who come from different backgrounds and life experiences,” stated BAFBF Chairman and Founder Raynard Jackson. “Their talents run the gamut, from business to sports to entertainment.

The “Black Americans for a Better Future” is a 527 Political Action Committee (PAC) founded by longtime Republican political operative, syndicated newspaper columnist and author Raynard Jackson. This PAC is the first and only 527 dedicated to attracting African-Americans to the Republican Party. It’s immediate focus however, is primarily on the African-American entrepreneur.

The goal of this PAC will be to counter those liberal organizations that receive an inordinate amount of media attention and to present a counter narrative to messages given by organizations such as; The People for the American Way, National Council of La Raza, and the Center for American Progress.

“Having well trained, credible, experienced African-Americans constantly challenging the liberal orthodoxy in the media will create a tectonic shift in the perception of the Republican Party within the Black community,” Jackson said. “If this approach can be sustained over the long-term, there will be a demonstrable shift in the voting patterns within the African-American community.”

This event is not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee, however videotapes of the group discussion will be distributed to all of the Republican Presidential candidates, party leaders and other GOP organizations.

The actual interview with Boyd Rutherford starts at the 25:00 minute mark.
