What Makes DANTE Tick? Fall 2024

By Chauncey Dunham – CEO, A Dante Production

As I developed this article, I was reflecting on who and how I decided to develop a musical play. The person that played a major role was Gary Johnson and my children. Gary and I both are vested in the growth of our youth. When we developed the company Broadway Theaters Educate, our major goal was to inspire the youth to expand their minds.  After surveying the education landscape, we determined that funding in the public school fell short of meeting the needs of the children.

We were successful until the School Board(s) of education said we can’t afford your programs. We lived in a part of the country known as the “DMV” which is an acronym for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.  We used our personal funds to compensate for the shortfall and continued to transport young people to New York City to experience live theater on Broadway.

Dante Production was developed in 1984.  I moved to Florida several years ago.  The pace was slower, and I became bored.  One day I met a couple who invited me to their home for an old-fashioned fish fry. Meeting people at that event motivated me to re-tool my company to include music, culture and entertainment in Central Florida.  The result is a Red-Carpet Dinner Theater production.

I needed to make changes to the operational structure of my company.  The goal was to surround myself with very smart people.  My first move was, I added a President, Ms. Kristen Smith.  Kristen owns a successful consulting company.  Another smart person is Ms. Donna Gray-Banks, owner of the Fresh Book Festival.  Donna has knowledge of and access to people in the field of literature and film.  Rounding out the circle is Gary Johnson, a social media consultant.

A new move is being made to include other company owners that were “like-minded” people such as Mr. Kenneth Hunt, the Owner/Operator of the Historical Hunt House and Zanzibar Blu Jazz Speakeasy located in Daytona Beach, Florida.

October 12, 2024, will be an event—a night of entertainment in Daytona Beach, FL.
