Amanda Gorman, activist and poet laureate who was not only the first person named National Youth Poet Laureate but was handpicked by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to deliver her poem, “The Hill We Climb” at President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021.  Her poetry centers on issues of oppression, feminism, race, and marginalization.
