Ask a room full of music lovers to name the greatest recorded saxophone solo of all time, and you’ll probably get a dozen different answers. Ask that same room to identify the greatest movie soundtrack ever recorded, and the discussion will likely continue long after the music stops.

That was exactly the atmosphere on this week’s edition of The Thought Brothers.

Joining us was acclaimed saxophonist and recording artist Bennie Yarbrough, who not only shared insights from his remarkable musical journey but also accepted the difficult assignment of serving as our Guest Judge during another spirited edition of our popular Barroom Argument segment.

Alongside special guest co-host Stan Harrison, Mr. Spivey, Carlos, C.J., and I each presented our selections for the greatest recorded saxophone solo and the greatest movie soundtrack ever produced. Every choice came with a passionate defense, personal memories, and, of course, plenty of good-natured disagreement.
