Hitting the Bullseye
To understand why “bullseye” carries so much meaning, consider the following:
- The term originates from archery, referring to the center of a target.
- The circular shape of the target resembles a bull’s eye.
- It symbolizes precision and accuracy.
- Metaphorically, it represents achieving a goal or objective.
At A Dante Production, “hitting the bullseye” means bringing timeless music and stories to life with both passion and precision.
Why Quincy Jones?
There’s no shortage of great jazz and timeless music. By the year 2000, there were already more than 100,000 jazz albums recorded — more than anyone could hear in a lifetime. In the rush for what’s new, even some of the great ones get overlooked.
That’s why we turn to Quincy Jones.
Quincy Jones is a true musical genius who never fully received his due. Yes, he was financially compensated, but greatness is measured in more than money — it’s about legacy and recognition in history.
Did you know?
- Jones began in the 1950s as a jazz arranger and conductor.
- He produced early pop hits for Lesley Gore (“It’s My Party”) and worked with Frank Sinatra and Count Basie.
- He produced Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987).
- He was the force behind “We Are the World” (1985).
- His film scores include The Pawnbroker, In the Heat of the Night, The Wiz, and The Color Purple.
- He has won Emmys, Grammys, and even a Tony Award.
Elias Leight described Quincy as “one of the most prolific and revered producers in music history,” touching nearly every genre — jazz, soul, funk, disco, rock, pop, and hip-hop — in a career spanning seven decades.
A Musical Tribute
A Dante Production, a small company in Florida with a big vision, is proud to bring For The Love of Quincy Jones to Daytona Beach on November 1, 2025.
The production will showcase a portion of Quincy’s extraordinary body of work — just a taste, because covering it all would take days of music.
But this musical is about more than entertainment. It’s about education, legacy, and the next generation.
Investing in the Future
As we talk about our future, let’s remember that our schools are the gateway to serving children. The strength of tomorrow’s economy — and the health of tomorrow’s communities — depends on the opportunities we offer our youth today.
That’s why this production includes local students and youth performers. We want them to know where we started in music, to learn from the past, and to carry that creativity into the future.
As Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
