Alex Kiberu is the Founder and Head Basketball Trainer for Blockchain Basketball. He has a love for children, basketball and fostering improvement in each student and staff member. Basketball is a vehicle to help each child learn valuable life skills on the path to reaching their full potential.
In addition to teaching proper fundamentals and sport-specific conditioning, Coach Alex and his staff strive to help kids understand and manage life lessons through winning and losing and sportsmanship. Coach Alex emphasizes health and wellness and injury prevention and treatment.
By his own admission, Coach Alex is a taskmaster who stresses the fundamentals, and he does not apologize for being tough. Ask any adult who has ever played youth sports about the people who most influenced their lives in positive ways, and you will almost always hear the name of a former coach. The hard practices aren’t always fun, but Coach Alex and his team teach kids life skills, such as motivation, perseverance, communication, resiliency, and team building skills. While it may only be a few lucky kids who grow up to play college/professional sports, countless numbers of his kids have moved on to experience successful lives, largely due to the guidance provided to them through their coaches.
What coaches say is one thing, but what coaches do is a much bigger thing as it applies to youth development through sports. For example, it’s one thing to say you run a clean program based on integrity, but does your program reflect those values? According to Coach Alex, Blockchain Basketball “walks the talk.”
