The Thought Brothers react to the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

My Take on the Debate by Gary A. Johnson (September 11, 2024)

Here we some 16 hours after the “great debate” between Vice President Kamala Harris and the convicted felon former President Donald Trump. WOW! That debate went like I expected. I predicted that the former President would not be able to control himself and would unravel on stage and that Vice President Harris would hit most of Donald Trump’s “hot buttons” to send him into “Crazy Uncle Donald” mode.

The Vice President seemed a tad bit nervous at the beginning, but she settled down quickly.  She made her first “gangsta move” before she uttered one word when she “bitch slapped” him by walking into his space at the podium, extended her hand and said, “Kamala Harris.”  She gave him a look that said, “you better say my name correctly.”  That look must have worked because Donald Trump NEVER called, stated or recited the Vice President’s name.  At his rallies, Donald Trump deliberately mispronounces the Vice President’s name in front of friendly “low information” MAGA attendees who laugh at his one-liners like drunks at a comedy club.

Former Maryland Lt. Governor and Republican National Committee Chair turned MSNBC correspondent Michael Steele said it best when he described the debate.  Steele said, “She spanked that ass.”

Trump had his moments.  One of his finer moments was his baseless claim that migrants in Ohio are abducting and eating pets. I’ve talked to a few Trump supporters who complained that Donald Trump was fact checked more than Kamala Harris.  That’s true—because TRUMP TOLD MORE LIES.  According to CNN fact checker Daniel Dale, Trump told at least 33 falsehoods while Harris told at least one.  Let’s be clear.  Donald Trump gives the word “lies” a bad reputation.  Trump’s lies are not tethered to any kind of reality.

I focused on Donald Trump’s body language.  He looked small.  He was hunched over, he never made eye contact with her. He also looked like he didn’t want to be there because he knew he was outmatched by this extremely smart and accomplished Black woman.

Kamala Harris showed the world that she is ready to be President of the United States.
