Lead and Read: Building Brilliant Minds in the Black Community

0

The Thought Brothers are back with a powerful and purpose-driven conversation featuring Theresa Merritt-Watson, founder of Lead and Read — a movement that’s changing how we educate and empower Black youth.

This episode dives deep into how Lead and Read, in partnership with the African American Church and Blacks-In.com, is transforming young lives through reading, leadership, and cultural awareness. From daily “Black Facts” that inspire pride to book clubs that get kids (ages 4–10) excited about learning, this initiative is restoring the foundation of literacy and self-confidence in our communities.

Join Gary Johnson, Mr. Spivey, Carlos Prillman, and C.J. Johnson as they discuss:

  • The urgent need to boost literacy in the Black community
  • How early reading connects to leadership and self-identity
  • The role of faith and mentorship in shaping young minds
  • How every parent, pastor, and community leader can help

Because when we teach our children to read — we teach them to lead.

The Thought Brothers Podcast features three diverse men who rotate as Host and talk about relevant and current topics of interest to a diverse audience of men and women.  The Thought Brothers consists of William “Bill” Spivey, a retired FBI Special Agent, Christopher “C.J.” Johnson, a Social Media Commentator and Carlos Prillman, a Financial Analyst.

Their goal is to:

  • Objectively discuss issues of interest to our community
  • Inspire a “Call To Action” and model the appropriate behavior for others
  • Educate, motivate, provide a sense of caring towards those who are less fortunate
  • Have fun!
