You know I always write about the positive side of life as it relates to either being retired or getting ready to retire. However, the world is really in turmoil. We started 2020 with the pandemic, which was overtaken by the killing of Black men, but wait we still have COVID-19.
People really care, who would protest during the height of COVID-19 unless they really cared. Even other countries held protest concerning such foul treatment of humans. The publisher of Black Men in America wrote an article (This Moment Is Not Too Big For Us) relating to the ‘tenant,” in The White House–funny but true.
We are under the leadership of someone who cannot even read a paragraph properly. Only the “tenant!” I try not to write about things that get my intellectual juices flowing but sometimes I get caught up in the flow. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.
I had family members relocate during both pandemics, COVID-19, and racial injustice; the move was a nightmare. However, things are calming down even the dog is adjusting to the new home.
As I investigate my rear view mirror of life, I see hope. The younger generation has a vastly different concept of what and how their future will be shaped. The only thing lacking is we have never drilled retirement into them. We as people all get older and preparing for the day you are no longer working for a company or yourself you may need to be ready. Financial readiness is wonderful, however there is another kind of readiness, DOB, yes Date of Birth readiness is a must. When your brain said move faster and your body says NO it is a real shock. I told my doctor during a visit I was having a problem based on my slowing down, he laughed and said I had DOB disease. I very reluctantly said, what is that? He cracked up and explained it. Do not worry everybody at some point will suffer from it.
Retirement living can be wonderful, only you can make that happen.
